Flow Traders is a leading global proprietary trading firm and a principal liquidity provider and market maker across ETFs, bonds, FX & Digital Assets. We are looking for a Global Head of Operations and Middle Office to join our Amsterdam office.
The Global Head of Operations is responsible for the strategic direction, global coordination, and continuous optimization of the operational infrastructure across all geographies. This includes full accountability for post-trade execution, trade support, process automation whilst maintaining Operational Risk Management and regulatory compliance. The role is pivotal in enabling scalability, efficiency, and control in support of Flow Traders' trading ambitions. What you will do
- Lead the firm’s global operations strategy in line with trading and business objectives
- Advise the board and senior leadership on operational decisions and business growth
- Prepare operations for market expansion and increased business activity
- Manage multi-regional operations and middle-office teams
- Ensure consistent processes, systems, controls, and standards across locations
- Establish KPIs, quality controls, and accountability frameworks
- Develop and monitor operational risk management and regulatory control frameworks
- Oversee controls across the trade lifecycle, settlement, reconciliation, and reporting
- Lead automation, digital transformation, data, and AI initiatives
- Partner with Technology and Product teams to improve post-trade infrastructure
- Reduce operational workload, improve efficiency, and strengthen service quality
- Act as the main operations contact for Trading, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Technology
- Manage relationships with clearing banks, custodians, prime brokers, and other vendors
- Provide accurate management information and operational insights to the board
- Identify, anticipate, and mitigate operational risks across multiple jurisdictions
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Amsterdam.
What you will need to succeed
- 10+ years of experience in financial services, with at least 5 years in leadership roles
- Deep expertise in trading operations and mid-office functions across multiple asset classes (e.g., equities, derivatives, FX, DA)
- Proven success in managing distributed teams across different time zones and cultures
- Experience with regulatory frameworks in Europe, North America, and Asia
- Strong understanding of technology platforms, data flows, and automation solutions in a trading context
- Highly analytical, decisive, and execution-oriented with a global mindset
- Outstanding communication and influencing skills; able to interact at all levels of the organization
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or related discipline
