Your impact at MUFG
As part of Enterprise Risk Planning within Enterprise Risk Management, you will play a key role in shaping the Risk function's technology, data, and tooling landscape. You will drive the development and execution of the Risk Technology Strategy, oversee risk technology initiatives, and champion the adoption of innovative solutions that enhance risk management capabilities. Acting as a Data Steward for ERM, you will help strengthen data governance, improve data quality, and support the effective management of key risk data assets. Working closely with stakeholders across Risk, IT, Data Management, and EMEA teams, you will ensure risk tools, databases, and EUC solutions are governed effectively, fit for purpose, and support informed decision-making across the bank.
Function positioning
The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) department supports MBE's long-term stability and sustainable growth by providing a comprehensive and forward-looking view of the bank's risk profile to enable informed decision-making. Through a strong risk culture, robust risk management frameworks, and close collaboration with stakeholders, ERM helps balance risk and return across the organization. The function is composed of seven specialist areas: Governance, Resilience, Stress Testing & Strategic Risk, Model Risk, ESG Risk, Enterprise Risk Planning, and Risk Affairs. Together, these teams provide independent oversight and strategic guidance to strengthen resilience, support business objectives, and ensure a coordinated approach to risk management.
The role includes the following
Own and drive the MBE Risk Technology Strategy, ensuring alignment with evolving business priorities, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Partner with EMEA Head Office and key stakeholders to shape the future-state ERM operating model, leveraging AI, intelligent automation, advanced analytics, and modern risk technologies to strengthen risk management capabilities.
Lead the delivery and implementation of strategic technology initiatives across the Risk function, securing business engagement and required investment where necessary.
Identify, develop, and promote the adoption of AI and agentic AI solutions that enhance risk processes, improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and support better decision-making, while ensuring appropriate governance and oversight.
Act as a trusted advisor to Risk teams by raising awareness of available technologies, sharing knowledge, and supporting effective utilization of digital tools.
Serve as the End User Computing (EUC) Champion, ensuring compliance with EUC governance requirements, including register maintenance, control effectiveness, remediation activities, and annual attestations.
Define and execute the Risk Data Strategy to support BCBS239 compliance, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide data management objectives and EMEA requirements.
Represent the Second Line of Defence in strategic data initiatives, including the development of CRO Domain data marts and wider data warehouse capabilities, ensuring Risk requirements are effectively incorporated.
Promote data as a strategic asset within ERM and ORM by embedding robust data management practices and governance standards.
Fulfil Data Steward responsibilities, including ownership of data quality controls, monitoring activities, issue remediation, and compliance with Data Quality Management procedures.
Partner with the Data Management function to enhance data quality, resolve data issues, and improve the reliability of risk data for reporting and decision-making.
Manage the Inter-Affiliate Agreements including annual reviews, contractual updates and service review meetings, fostering effective collaboration between Service Providers and Service Receivers
In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:
Proven project management experience, including practical application of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Experience developing strategic documents, roadmaps, and target operating models to support business and technology transformation initiatives.
Strong experience gathering, analysing, and documenting IT business requirements and translating business needs into technology solutions.
