Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. As a Technical Lead, you will drive the technical strategy to make Google Search an omnipresent, instantly callable, and proactively helpful companion across the Android ecosystem. You will lead the evolution of our OS-level entry points (e.g., the Android Quick Search Box) transitioning them from isolated utilities into a single, cohesive access system. You will ensure our features feel like flawless, visually rich extensions of the Android launcher itself, rather than a layered third-party app. You will also pioneer proactive assistance, leveraging native surfaces like lockscreen and widgets to anticipate user needs and deliver high-value information before a query is even typed. Partnering closely with Product, UX, and cross-functional teams, your technical leadership will weave Search directly into the fabric of Android.
