Role overview

We’re looking for a Lead .Net Software Engineer to help shape the technical direction, architecture, standards, and delivery of our core platform.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining software engineering depth with pragmatic architectural judgement. You’ll contribute directly in the codebase while guiding design and delivery across services, APIs, event flows, BFFs, and selected frontend components within an event-driven architecture.

Our platform is built primarily with C#, .NET, PostgreSQL, AWS, Blazor, and MudBlazor, with services running across Lambda, ECS, and EC2. We continue to evolve our engineering practices, tooling, and platform capabilities as the platform grows.

We take an AI-first approach to engineering, with AI-assisted development embedded into day-to-day workflows. This role will help drive effective adoption of those practices and support the design, implementation, operation, and governance of selected AI agents and agent-enabled workflows.

While this role does not include line management, it does involve strong technical leadership through mentoring, design guidance, and raising engineering standards across the team.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership across design, implementation, and delivery

Contribute hands-on in the codebase and model strong engineering practices

Help shape architecture across microservices, event-driven systems, APIs, BFFs, and frontend applications

Guide the design of scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions

Work with architects and engineers to turn technical direction into practical outcomes

Define and promote engineering standards, patterns, and best practices

Support engineers through code reviews, design reviews, mentoring, and technical problem-solving

Collaborate with product, delivery, and business stakeholders to align solutions with priorities

Translate requirements into clear solution designs and actionable technical work

Identify technical risks, bottlenecks, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement

Contribute to AWS-based architecture and engineering practices, including environments using Lambda, ECS, and EC2

Improve observability, reliability, performance, security, and operational readiness across the platform

Contribute to Jenkins pipelines and CI/CD practices to improve consistency and delivery efficiency

Help embed AI-assisted development into engineering workflows across design, coding, testing, and documentation

Support the design, operation, and continuous improvement of selected AI agents and agent-enabled workflows

Help define and apply appropriate guardrails, governance, and quality controls for AI-enabled tools

Maintain clear technical documentation for architecture, services, event flows, pipelines, AI agents, and key decisions

Requirements

Strong commercial experience in software engineering, with significant hands-on experience in C# and .NET

Experience designing and building production microservices, APIs, and distributed systems

Strong understanding of event-driven architecture and asynchronous integration patterns

Experience working with BFF patterns and service-oriented frontend integration approaches

Strong experience with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL

Strong grounding in software design principles, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and maintainable system design

Experience contributing to or leading technical design and architecture decisions

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices; Jenkins experience is strongly preferred

Understanding of build automation, deployment pipelines, release processes, and engineering workflows

Experience with testing, code reviews, and software quality practices

Meaningful hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools as part of day-to-day engineering work

Practical understanding of AI-first software development

Experience contributing to, supporting, or governing the use of AI agents or LLM-powered engineering workflows

Ability to break down complex technical problems and guide delivery through clear, pragmatic technical direction

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, stakeholders, and architects

Experience mentoring or technically guiding other engineers

Nice to have:

Experience with AWS Lambda, ECS, and EC2

Experience with Docker and container-based development

Experience with infrastructure-as-code and environment automation

Familiarity with DevOps practices and infrastructure-aware development

Experience with messaging, event streaming, or related event-driven technologies

Experience with Blazor and MudBlazor

Familiarity with observability and monitoring tooling in distributed systems

Experience defining governance, controls, or operating models for AI agents or AI-enabled internal tools

Experience working in a growing product or platform engineering environment
