Underwriter - Cyber & Tech PI

The opportunity

We’re looking for a Cyber/Tech PI Underwriter or Broker (or someone with strong Cyber/Tech PI/Financial Lines experience looking to specialise) to help grow our Cyber portfolio in Milan. You’ll join our Global Speciality business as a key member of the Cyber /Tech PI team, supporting the delivery of our underwriting plan and building your expertise in a fast‑moving and innovative class.

You’ll develop strong technical Cyber/Tech PI underwriting skills, business and financial acumen, and a confident trading mindset, while working closely with senior underwriters, brokers and customers.

What will you be doing?

• Supporting the delivery of the Cyber/Tech PI underwriting plan in Milan, contributing to sound risk selection, pricing discipline and portfolio performance.
• Underwriting a mix of mid‑market and, with support, more complex Cyber/Tech PI risks in line with our appetite, guidelines and pricing frameworks, with a clear commitment to risk quality, governance and pro-active pipeline management / business development.
• Assisting senior underwriters with larger or more complex accounts, including data gathering, analysis, preparation of quotes and documentation.
• Using available tools, data and portfolio insights to inform underwriting decisions and help identify trends and opportunities.
• Building and maintaining strong working relationships with brokers and customers, acting as a reliable and responsive point of contact for day‑to‑day Cyber/Tech PI enquiries.
• Collaborating with colleagues across the team and wider functions (claims, actuarial, portfolio management and operations) to support effective case handling and portfolio management.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, including process enhancement, use of new tools and ways of working, and sharing lessons learned.
• Taking ownership of your development plan, actively building your technical knowledge, market understanding and underwriting skills.

What are we looking for?

Technical expertise

• Experience as a Cyber/Tech PI Underwriter, Cyber Broker or in a related line (e.g. Financial Lines / Professional Indemnity) with an interest in specialising in Cyber.
• A good understanding of Cyber/Tech PI risks, exposures, controls and coverages, or a strong appetite and capability to build this quickly.
• Developing technical underwriting skills, with a commitment to risk quality, underwriting discipline and robust governance.

Breadth of business experience

• Demonstrable commercial awareness and an interest in how underwriting decisions impact portfolio performance and profitability.
• Ability to work with financial information and data to support underwriting decisions and reporting.
• Drive to deliver results, take responsibility for your portfolio and contribute to team targets.

Leadership capabilities (at an individual contributor level)

• A positive, trading mindset with the confidence to engage in broker discussions, supported by senior colleagues where needed.
• Willingness to take initiative, own tasks and follow through to completion.
• Collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and support peers.

Market orientation & agile stakeholder management

• Clear customer and broker focus, with strong relationship‑building skills and a professional, service‑oriented approach.
• Effective communication skills—numerical, verbal and written—with the ability to explain Cyber/Tech PI underwriting concepts clearly and simply.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders in a fast‑moving environment, escalating appropriately and “managing up” by keeping senior underwriters informed.
• A commitment to continuous learning, knowledge sharing and adopting best practice across the team.

Key Information

• Language Requirements: Fluency in both Italian and English (written and spoken) is essential for this role, as you will interact with local brokers/clients as well as international stakeholders.
• Location: Milan, Italy (with hybrid working options).
• Compensation & Benefits:
• Base Salary Range: from 35.000 EUR per Year
