Trading Infrastructure Specialists play an important role maintaining mission critical trading software and systems in the Squarepoint technology stack.
In this role you will be joining our Trading Infrastructure Support Team on an 18-month rotation programme. During this time, you will be exposed to a wide array of technologies across our Infrastructure estate and be supported by established members of the team.
At the end of the rotation, you will have the tools and knowledge to move into one of our DevOps/Systems teams, or you can opt to stay within Trading Infrastructure Support.
Things you will learn
You will be enrolled in a structured training programme with a dedicated mentor who will support you throughout your journey here at Squarepoint. Within the first few months you will learn about the tech stacks for our infrastructure teams and gain exposure to our application stack for trading.
You will work alongside our support team to learn how we address user issues, understand our handling standards, and gain the ability to triage and prioritise problems as they come up. You will have the opportunity to work with technologies such as Linux, Kubernetes, high-performance computing (HPC), distributed storage, load balancing, and more.
Towards the end of the programme there will be 1-week rotations within our DevOps and Systems teams so that you can gain hands-on experience within those areas.
Day-to-day responsibilities
Once initial training is complete, a normal day in this role could involve:
- Troubleshooting and automation across a wide array of core systems
- Engaging with service owners on day-to-day operational issues, triage, manage and resolving incidents
- Supporting observability, workload schedulers, databases, and Linux systems depending on team needs.
- Contributing to automation tasks using Python, Bash, or Ansible.
- Maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging pipelines
- Document issues, update runbooks, to aid your colleagues
Required skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Basic Linux knowledge
- Familiarity with Python
- Understanding of fundamentals of hardware infrastructure
- The ability to remain calm under pressure, assess competing priorities and remain well-organised
- Scientific curiousity and desire to learn and continuously improve system performance
- Good communication skills
Nice to have
- Exposure to one or more of containers, Kubernetes, VMs, Distributed Storage
- Understanding of modern telemetry tooling
- Interest in HPC, Schedulers, or CI/CD systems
The minimum base salary for this role is $100,000 if located in New York. This expectation is based on available information at the time of posting. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, which could constitute a significant portion of total compensation. This role may also be eligible for benefits, such as health, dental, and other wellness plans, as well as 401(k) contributions. Successful candidates’ compensation and benefits will be determined in consideration of various factors.
